Incentive Update: $2,000 Monthly Checks? Petition gets closer to milestone number of signatures

More than 2.9 million people have signed a petition from calling on the federal government to provide $2,000 in monthly incentive payments.

The petition, one of the most popular incentives petitions on the website, is titled “$2000/month to every American #moneyforthepeople #covid19” and is aimed at Congress.

If the petition gets 3 million signatures, its intended goal, it would be “one of the best signed”,” the website said.

“We need instant checks and recurring payments so we can keep our heads above water,” said Stephanie Bonin, one of the creators of the larger petitions. told Newsweek.

five smaller petitions for monthly checks are also starting to take off on the internet, according to Newsweek.

Despite the increased growth of the petition, it is unlikely that the White House or Congress will issue a fourth stimulus check at this time thanks to the continued improvement in the economy.

The Biden Administration has not passed direct legislation regarding a fourth stimulus check, and the majority of Congress also appears to be staying away from a fourth stimulus package for now, preferring to focus on more focused efforts as the economy improves.

Despite the lack of a fourth stimulus check, many states have taken measures into their own hands providing additional aid to residents.

And even more groups of people qualify for some cash in their pocket in other ways, such as a discount on health insurance.

The federal government has handed out three rounds of stimulus payments. The first payment was made in March 2020, in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic, with eligible individuals receiving up to $1,200.

The second check for $600 came in December 2020 and the third round of payments was distributed in March 2021, with eligible individuals receiving up to $1,400.
