COVID-19 cases on the rise ahead of the holiday season

Team coverage of the COVID-19 situation in Oklahoma continues as the holiday season progresses.

Doctors say they are already seeing a rise in COVID-19 cases before the holidays.

Oklahoma’s new seven-day average is 831 new cases per day. That’s a jump of nearly 300 cases per day from two weeks ago, when the average was 561.

Hospital admissions are also showing a slight increase. Because of this, some doctors are concerned that an increase is imminent in the coming months, especially during the holiday season.

To help prevent the spread of COVID during the holiday season, experts recommend taking a booster shot if possible. It is now available to all adults. Also get tested for the virus if you don’t feel well.

News On 6 is expected to learn more from state health leaders on Wednesday at a briefing taking place at 1 p.m.
