70 infected, two dead from COVID-19 in Bennington nursing home | Local news

BENNINGTON — Two people have died and a total of 70 people have been infected in a COVID-19 outbreak at Crescent Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, the state reported Wednesday.

State officials said at a news conference on Tuesday that 68 people affiliated with the center had tested positive for COVID-19 during an outbreak.

On Wednesday, state public health communications officer Ben Truman confirmed the deaths and updated infection numbers.

“Unfortunately, yes, there is an active outbreak at this facility,” Truman said.

He said he had no information about outbreak-related hospitalizations.

Crescent Manor officials could not be reached for comment Wednesday.

The state is monitoring 12 active outbreaks in long-term care facilities, Ministry of Financial Regulation commissioner Michael Pieciak said at Tuesday’s press conference in Montpelier. On Tuesday, there were 181 cases of COVID-19 in the facilities.
