Bryan Adams tests positive for COVID-19 in Italy
MILAN – Bryan Adams tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday upon arrival at Milan’s Malpensa Airport, ahead of the unveiling of the Pirelli 2022 calendar he was photographing.
Canadian rock ‘n’ roller announced the positive test in an Instagram post that included a photo of him in a room after being tested and then sitting in an ambulance, taken for a more reliable PCR test. He sat normally and wore a surgical mask.
“Here I am, just arrived in Milan, and tested positive for COVID for the second time in a month,” Adams said in the post. “So it’s for me to the hospital.” He thanked fans for his support.
Adams, who also has a career as a photographer, has shot the Pirelli calendar for 2022 after being initially engaged to shoot the 2021 version which was canceled due to the pandemic. Adams was expected to appear at personal press events promoting the Sunday and Monday calendar, but that was now uncertain.
Normally the unveiling of the Pirelli calendar is a gala event attended by those appearing and other VIPs, but this year has already been scaled back due to the ongoing pandemic, with a tight guest list for an evening cocktail.
Adams chose other musical talents as his subjects for the “On the Road” calendar, including Iggy Pop, Cher, Jennifer Hudson, Saweetie and St. Vincent.
