Virginia Beach reports highest local increase in COVID-19 cases in a day
The Virginia Department of Health has released their daily updated numbers regarding COVID-19 cases in the state.
According to their website, there are now a total of 962,472 cases, with 710,878 confirmed and 251,954 likely. There are a total of 14,616 COVID-19-related deaths, of which 12,272 are confirmed and 2,344 are probable. The number of cases has risen by 1,781 since Wednesday and the number of deaths has risen by 19.
A total of 10,405,176 COVID-19 PCR tests have now been given in Virginia.
As of Thursday, Virginia has given a total of 12,588,773 COVID-19 vaccines. That’s 59,611 statewide doses given in a day.
The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association has also updated their numbers. On Thursday, 789 people were currently hospitalized, confirmed with COVID-19. There are 92 people receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are still pending. Combined, there are a total of 881 hospitalized for coronavirus-related illnesses.
219 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending are currently hospitalized in the ICU.
113 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus and those awaiting test results, are currently on a ventilator.
73,723 patients hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.
