New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has tested positive for COVID-19 and is recovering at home — just over a week since she was spotted mask-less in Florida, her office said Sunday.
“Representative Ocasio-Cortez has received a positive test result for COVID-19. She is experiencing symptoms and is recovering at home,” the statement said.
“The congressman got her booster shot this fall and encourages everyone to get their booster and follow all CDC guidelines.”

AOC’s maskless winter outing was criticized on social media by supporters of Florida’s Republican government Ron DeSantis, who took a strong stance against mask mandates.
“Welcome to Florida, AOC! We hope you enjoy the freedom here in the Sunshine State, thanks to the leadership of @RonDeSantisFL,” read a message from the Team DeSantis Twitter account in response to the photo.
Sunshine State Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Núñez also chimed in, writing, “@AOC’s state of mind in New York obviously doesn’t mind being in the free state of Florida… maskless, of course.”
Former White House press secretary and Florida-born Kayleigh McEnany tweeted that AOC’s travel choice was “interesting.”
“I think she’s enjoying the freedom-loving utopia of Florida over her mandate-ridden New York!” added McEnany, now co-host of the Fox News afternoon show “Outnumbered.”
Ocasio-Cortez shot back at Team DeSantis’ tweet the next day, writing: “Hasn’t DeSantis Administration been inexplicably missing for 2 weeks? If he’s around I’d like to say hello. His social media team seems to be posting weeks old photos. In the meantime, maybe I should can help with the local organization People are very receptive here :)”
“I’d also like to share some notes of @GovKathyHochul’s work in NY as he seems to be in need of tips!” she added in another tweet.
She also fired back at former Donald Trump campaign adviser Steve Cortes, who… cried Roberts for “displaying his grossly pale manly feet in public (not at a pool/beach) wearing hideous sandals”, as shown in the photo.
“If Republicans are mad they can’t date me, they can just say so instead of projecting their sexual frustrations on my boyfriend’s feet,” AOC wrote. “Yeah, creepy crazies.”
In a video posted by a reporter for the Sunshine State Conservative Voice on Sunday, she was seen waving to the large crowd of mostly unmasked drag bar patrons.
Congresswomen blamed Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in February for taking a family vacation to Cancun as his state suffered a deadly winter storm that knocked out millions and left 23 dead.
“Had Senator Cruz resigned in January after helping spark a violent uprising that killed several people, he could have taken his vacation in peace,” she said. tweeted back then. “Texans should continue to demand his resignation.”
DeSantis taunted AOC during a press conference last week when asked about her trip.
“If I got a dollar for every shut-down politician who decided to flee to Florida in the past two years, I’d be a pretty rabid rich man, let me tell you,” said DeSantis, 43.
