The Scirocco White Cat of 1985 was somewhere between a GT and a Scala. It came in Alpine white (L90E) with colour coded body kit, bumpers and mirrors. The wheels were standard 14" GT steel rims but painted Alpine white instead of silver. The tailgate spoiler is the Zender 'Version 2' type. Tail lights were the white tinted.

The great success of the Scirocco Mk1 was reason enough to bring a follow-up model onto the market. In 1981 Volkswagen presented the Scirocco 2, the first VW with an integrated rain rail that was again based on a Golf Mk1 platform. The Type 53B was available in several special models, above all the White Cat and GT2 as a 16V. Production ended in 1992 and it would take until 2008 for a third.

The VW Scirocco Mk2 GTX uses the same 1.8-litre fuel-injected engine as the Mk2 Golf GTI. On inspection we found that the fuel filler pipe was corroded, a common problem, which allowed rust particles to fall into the tank and find their way into the fuel system - even with a filter in place.
