1) The pool scene in The Great Game was very heavily influenced by the scene in canon story The Final Problem when Moriarty came to visit Holmes at 221B. Some of the dialogue was even lifted directly from that scene. Moriarty's main purpose in meeting Holmes that first time in canon was to warn Holmes to back off, so they kept that theme when they adapted the first meeting between the two.
